The Greater Manchester School’s Climbing Championships is back for 2026 at Rock Over Climbing

Wednesday March 25th 2026

09:30 -15:00

The 2026 championships will feature Bouldering (climbing without ropes, above large crash mats) with each school entering one or more teams. This can also contribute towards your PE & Sport Premium spending!

Teams can have a maximum of 8 climbers across the categories and each school may submit multiple teams. Each team needs one member of staff to supervise them. The booking includes a link for a safety form to be completed before the event date.

Open to all abilities from beginners to those who are regular climbers.

Venue: Rock Over Climbing Central, Park Garage, Cheviot Street, M3 1LW

Capacity: 200

Age categories: KS2, KS3, KS4 and Sixth Form

Price: Entrance fee £10 per person

Climbs: The aim is that everyone will get to climb, have fun and be challenged as there are routes set for all levels of ability. Beginner-Improver-Intermediate-Expert

Frequently Asked Questions

My child's school is outside Greater Manchester, can I still enter?

Yes, the competition is open to all schools!

Am I able to bring my child if their school can't take them?

Yes, parents are welcome to bring and supervise children. Please reserve your space via the link; input n/a for invoice information on the Information Form, and you will be sent a separate payment link.

Can home-schooled children take part?

Yes, the competition is open to all children.

My child is an experienced climber, do they still need to be supervised to take part?

We allow children signed off on our system as Unsupervised Climbers to take part without a supervisor present. This is available for experienced climbers aged 14-17. They must be already signed off with us before the competition date. Please contact the centre to arrange an assessment. Students aged 18 do not need to be supervised if they have signed an 18+ Unsupervised Climber Waiver.

My class has little bouldering experience, can they still enter?

We will set problems for beginners however we strongly recommend you come to a practice session beforehand, these can be arranged by contacting office@rockoverclimbing.com

Can we submit a mixed team?

Yes, teams can be split between age and gender categories.
